About the Committee
A word from our Chair - Helen Russell
RSCDS York & North Humberside Branch celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025. See what is planned under our events section. You will be most welcome to join us.
We are a geographically widespread branch, with dancers in Ryedale and Pickering, North Yorkshire, in York and as far south as Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
We run a range of SCD classes in Pickering, Haxby, Willerby and Cottingham, with a popular six-week course of Summer Dancing, in Haxby, near York.
Beginners are actively encouraged to join the Pickering, Haxby and Cottingham classes. The Wenlock Reel Club in Willerby is aimed at more experienced dancers.
We have an annual half day school, various workshops throughout the year and a residential weekend in February in the Cairn Hotel, Harrogate.
There is a programme of monthly social dance events. The annual ball in November is run jointly with Leeds Branch.
Our annual branch walk in June has become a fixture on the calendar, allowing members and friends to walk and chat over some lovely countryside.
We are very proud of our branch newsletter, ‘Broun’s Reel’, and have a reputation as a friendly, inclusive and sociable branch, so do come and join us. Scottish country dancing is such a wonderful activity!
